Cracker Barrel Love
As national restaurant chains go, I have a weak spot for Cracker Barrels. I love to pull off the road occasionally for their comfort foods like meatloaf, pot roast with mashed potatoes and pancakes with pure maple syrup and butter. It’s comforting to know that such home cooked meals can be found on the road.
But at a Cracker Barrel in Columbia, South Carolina Soraya and I found more than just comfort food. We found a deep and everlasting vigil of love. We met a Southern lady who had lunch every day at the same table where her husband had died of a heart attack three years prior.
Apparently he had real classic “grabber” and went down on to the floor gasping. I can only imagine what thoughts she has had over the years, while seated alone recalling her husband and his death at the very table she is eating at.
