I've been to the church before, but I haven't yet gone on a spirit walk. Your story really made me think about getting back there and evaluating my priorities. The Peyote Way Church people are some of the nicest people I have ever met.

The advice from Immanuel to go out to the Desert once every 90 days, light a fire, and evaluate ones life seems like the best advice I've ever heard.

Good luck on your journey and thanks for your story!

Russo, Thanks for the very encouraging comment. The peyote way is a path with no end indeed. I'll check out the Carlos Castaneda. I read it when I was 18 and had no idea what the Hell he was talking about. I suspect this time it will make sense. Be well brother man.

Amazing post! I'm glad you went through that experience. You might be interested in reading "The Teachings of Don Juan" By Carlos Castaneda. It talks about his experience/initiation with don Juan Matus who was a Yaqui Indian shaman. What he experiences and learns throughout the journey sounds similar to what you have experienced here.

I went through my own spiritual journey and initiation into a religion a few years back and still continue my spiritual enlightenment. I completely understand where your coming from and how you felt.

Keep moving forward brother. The path is not easy, but definitely rewarding!

I wish i'd known about this church when I lived so close! But all roads lead within- and I feel like mine could lead to this little temple someday.

Spiritual awakening within is an amazing thing, you worded it well. I'm on my own inner journey- seeking my connection to the universe. I like the Peyote Church elders advice of 90 days of reflecion and projecting. I have been doing a simular thing since last year, but I selected 100 days because it was a nice even number. I make a chart of 100 days and set a goal and work those 100 days to achieve those goals. At the end of the 100 days I would evaluate if I reached the goal, and if I did then I moved on to the next goal, if not, I would continue on the path. I gave up french fries one time. I just felt that 100 days was enough to make a difference, and I have to say that it works. Meeting your goal is learning that once you set your mind to something, it can be achieved.
Never experienced Peyote, but one day I might get to meet myself face to face and experience the same awareness.

Many years ago I read and re-read Aldous Huxley's 'Doors of Perception'. Your 'Peyote Way' is equally fascinating!

Your observations line up with this poetic advice from Rumi:
The beauty you craved in things was always my glimmer seen through a veil. Turn around and see where beauty comes from.'

Thanks for sharing your experiences with such warmth and candor.

Now you can understand alot of where I was at when you met me!! Such experiences are soooo hard to explain to those who haven't had any. It really alows you to be a "child" again. A child who is renew with life and amazed, excited, and thrilled to just live. But beware......you can never go back. But then again, who would want to. Take care and keep having a wonderful journey!!!
